As a sensible yet elegant mid-size SUV that has been a favorite of ours since its launch, the 2025 Hyundai Palisade has few obvious flaws. A 3.8-liter V-6 engine that is mated to an eight-speed automated transmission provides power. All-wheel drive is an option, although front-wheel drive is standard. Up to eight people can fit in the roomy, well-designed interior, and the ride is comfortable.
The Palisade’s specialty is skillfully combining a good number of basic tech and safety systems with a plethora of connectivity and charging choices to keep passengers happy and engaged. It is neither excessively sporty nor outrageously capable off-road. Premium audio, captain’s chairs, and quilted leather upholstery are offered for those seeking further luxury. The Jeep Grand Cherokee can haul more, and the Mazda CX-90 has a quicker and more dynamic driving style, but the Palisade strikes the ideal balance between suburban duty and affordability. Key Updates for 2025
The around-camera view and parking distance warning are now standard on the XRT. The add-on Premium package has been replaced with a new midrange trim known as SEL Premium, which falls between the XRT and Limited trims. Apart from that, the Palisade remains largely the same.

The SE, SEL, XRT, SEL Premium, Limited, and Calligraphy trim levels come with front-wheel drive as standard, while the range-topping Calligraphy Night Edition comes with all-wheel drive as standard. When fitted with the dealer-installed trailer hitch, all Palisades are rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds and come standard with a gearbox cooler, trailer pre-wiring, and sway control.
The Palisade’s quiet cabin and smooth ride were underlined during our test drive of a loaded Calligraphy model throughout Asheville, North Carolina. We also tried some minor off-roading and were pleased to find that the large SUV could handle terrain that is beyond what you’ll find in an urban jungle.

Our all-wheel-drive XRT test vehicle reached 60 mph from zero in 6.4 seconds and came to a halt from 70 mph in 161 feet during our testing.
Fuel Efficiency and Actual MPG
The EPA rates the front-wheel-drive Palisade at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. With all-wheel drive, the Palisade gets 19 city and 24 highway miles per gallon. Cargo, Comfort, and Interior
The SE trim level has eight seats, but almost all subsequent trim levels have captain’s chairs in the second row, which reduces the number of passengers to seven. You can choose between the captain’s chairs in the center or the bench seat on the SEL Premium. In any case, there is ample room for occupants in each of the three rows. A button in the second row allows the seat to be moved forward, making the third row easily accessible.
The Limited, Calligraphy, and Calligraphy Night Edition all come with power-folding seats in the second and third rows, while the SEL is an optional feature. Road noise is muffled, but a considerable quantity of wind noise reaches the doors. When all seats are folded, the cargo volume is 86 cubic feet. In C/D testing, the Palisade could accommodate 33 carry-on bags when the last two rows were lowered. Stowage is 46 cubic feet when the second row is erect and the third row is folded. The volume decreases to a manageable 18 cubes while the third row is in use. However, dirty or wet things can be stored beneath the load floor. Although the door cubbies are small, there is ample storage underneath the center console and inside.
Connectivity and Information Technology
All trim levels come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-dash navigation. Two Bluetooth devices can be connected at once, and there are up to seven USB connections available. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant may be used to remotely lock, unlock, and start the Palisade when it is outfitted with Hyundai’s Blue Link app service.
